Kick and carrot both are needed for grooming children. Actually stick is not to teach. This is for discipline. You need to teach with love in an interesting manner. Good teaching methods do not need stick.
Stick needs be used some times for enforcing discipline. A child must know the reason for getting stick. This should not be angrily but in cool mind. Punishment should be uniform for act of indiscipline. For example, using abusive language or insulting elders should be reason for punishment. Punishment should be neither too severe nor very lenient as this will defeat the purpose.

1 year or so, I heard about an incident in Delhi(not sure) which really shocked me.
As a punishment, teacher asked the boy (below 10 years) to stand outside the class in sun.
After 5-10 minutes, boy fell down and died. He could not withstand the summer.
What a teacher was he, who punished a little child in such a way! At that time, I really want to kill that teacher. :angry:
Many incidents have occurred in India where teachers became cause for children's death.
I don't have a child but my small brothers and sisters don't have any fear of scolding or beating...now a days you need to be your child's friend rather than a dictator.
Not only they become careless about stick and the one who is doing so but they will become more rude and and would behave in absolutely indifferent manner.
