Already a thread is there about Rajesh Khanna.
Yet, I feel I should pay my honour and homage to him. That's why I started this thread...as I believe am the no.1 fan of this super star of Boddunan family.
Yes, he has given new definitions of romance to Indian screen and of course, till now, he has the largest number of lady fans. People waited before his banglow for days to get a glance of this Emperor of Indian Cinema.
He still holds the record of 15 consecutive hits which made him first superstar of Indian screen. He made me a great lover of Bollywood and its old songs.
Today is Karkadaka Vavu, most auspicious day for souls according to we Malayalis' beliefs. Let him soul also rest in peace. He will live in the hearts of millions as long as world and this Bollywood exist.

Yes..it's a song very close to my heart...
let me try to make a quick list.......
No doubt, Aradhana comes first.....each and every song of it is so special to me that......when I watched it for the first time, Aradhana craze was so much filled in my head that I used to note it in my diary if I hear any song of it.It was when I was 15-16 old. Chanda hai tu was the song that really touched my heart, which I get opportunity to hear very rarely :) :) :)

Am trying to select 10 songs, exempting Aradhana from the list.....that also, only songs picturised on Rajesh Khanna

1. Pyar Deewana hota hai...katti patang
@. Yeh Jo muhabbat hai.....katti patang
3. Hume aur jeene ke.....agar tum na hote
4. Hum dono...Ajnabee
5. Bheegi bheegi raatom mein....Ajnabee
6. Kahi door......Anand
7.Zindagi ke safar........Aap ki kasam
8. Yeh kya/chingari/kuch tho.....Amar prem (I can't choose the best)
9. Aaja piya tohe pyar ....Baharom ke sapne(sung by lataji)
10. Acha to hum chalte hain
11. Mere dil mein aaj kya hai.....Daag
12. Oh mere dil ke chein.....mere jeevan saathi
13. Suno chamba...apna desh
14. Hume tumse pyar...Khudrat

Oh mere dil ke chein, hum dono do premi and Agar tum na hote are very special to my heart

I was shoched to know he died yesterday. :( Few days back only he returned from the hospital and told public that he is fine.

I read somewhere that these days he was alone and used to sit nearby his phone many hours anxiously waiting for someone to call him. :( And there were the days when he used to have 8~9 phones and they always used to ring and keep him busy all the day.

I pray for him,his soul rest in peace.

He is beyond us- Kahin door jab Din dhal jaye-

The TV channels are full of him, the other day they were showing an old BBC documentary shot at the height of his fame and soon after his marriage, which was very nice.He came across as a very sensible and outspoken person..
After Kaka, perhaps Shah rukh khan is the only person who was able to get those romantic eyes and lovely body language to attract everyone towards him, as a powerful magnet. Isn't it?

Actually, romantic era re-started again in Bollywood with the release of DDLJ in 1995 and till now, continuing. It was seen setting around 1975 with the popularity of action movies

I started watching him in my teens and a hard core fan. I can see only Amitabh, rajendra Kmar, and Aamir at par with him. Others stand no where in comparison.

I have never been a great fan of Rajesh Khanna , however, I liked to watch his films ...I feel that Dilip Kumar,Balraj Sahni,Amitabh Bachhan and Sanjeev Kumar were the real performers, whereas Ralesh Khanna was a glamorous super star, of course he had lots of talent too ...some of his films like Safar,Bawarchi,Aap ki kasam were all more performance oriented.I feel that although Aradhana was his first hit because of many factors including him,Sharmila did a better job since her role had more depth..
@Ushaji...
You forget to mention Anand and Amar prem. I think, they are those 2 movies which he gave the best. But Aradhana is always my personal favourite...also Katti patang
In the past 1 year.....it's a great disaster to Bollywood....because we lost 3 great Romantic heroes of the era of Golden films and music.... i.e the era of 60's and early 70's (till 75)

Those 3 ever green romantic heroes are Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna. One more romantic hero, who represented that generation....Joy Mukherjee......

yes it's are great loss to our bollywood.

You didn't give me your answer yet...
Also sanjeev....
Tell me, if you have to select best of all his films, which is your choice?

I would say "Anand" was his best movie i have ever seen he was better than even Amitabh Bachchan in the film. :)

Yes he was a supporting actor in the film but Rajesh Khanna's acting was much better than him in the film. And the film is known more for him only.

Till now, it's considered to be his best performance which bring tears to our eyes even now....Kahi door jab din.......what a beautiful song.
Aradhana, Amar prem and Anand are those three films which bought a lot of restlessness in me.....these 3 movies really touched my soul.

Can you tell me which was most touching scene in that film? It's not its climax. Can you tell me????
After Ananad, many films with the same story idea was made in Malayalam.
In 1990's a film named 'Chitrashalabham' (butterfly) was released..... it's just a remake of Anand.
Jayaram did the role of Anand and Biju Menon played the role of doctor

When he came and meet baskar Banerji ( Amitabh) for the first time and told that he know he is going to die in few months.
Even the scenes where he talks to Lalitha Pawar are very touching.
Let me tell you which is that scene. I think, it appears just before (or after...not sure), Kahi door....

Actually this song shows his real heart pain and it's not the fact that he is going to die soon, but the heart break he got since his girl friend left him, hearing he is a cancer patient. :( :( :(
It's his romantic feelings shown in that song.

He considers one girl as his sister in this film.

We always see him very happy in the film. But when the truth reveals, he is crying inside due to the betrayal by his lover, that scene really hurt me a lot.
The truth is that he comes to Mumbai the next day she gets married. When the girl, whom he considers sister, asks him this matter, the expressions on his face.......it's the first time in the whole film we see his real hidden pains on his face.

Such a heart touching scene was it

I haven't seen Bandhan yet....I think so

Ittefaq is an one night story. I think, killing of his wife or something like that. Can't remember that. One day, we two had a discussion about that film. Do you remember?
