On June 2nd, re-elections is to be held in Neyyattinkara constituency of Kerala. Drama took place when communist MLA gave his resignation 2-3 months before. Selvaraj, the resigned communist MLA is now Congress candidate.  . Lourence is Communist candidate and former Railway minister O.Rajagopal is BJP candidate.
This constituency is notorious for caste votes. More than 50% voters belong to Nadar community and they can really influence the result. Since this community is found only in the southern parts of states and Tamil Nadu, many voters give their vote according to caste, thinking they may do something for the caste.
This time, both congress and communist candidates are from Nadar community. So, voters will really be confused? Also, will people vote for Selvaraj as he has changed the party? Will BJP get the benefit of this, since votes will split? But they have never won a seat till now.
Most influencing factor would be T.P.Chandrasekhar murder. CPM is accused of it and Congress using this as a better opportunity to fight with full confidence.

What do you think? Who will win this time?

As both candidate belong to same community, we may ignore caste factor. BJP never won and so may be ignored. The congress candidate is a turncoat and rank opportunist. Also, in bye elections, ruling party is generally defeated. So, Communist candidate is more likely to win.

Last time, communist party won here. So, more chances are there for him.
But do you think people will personally vote for Selvaraj, as he has won 3-4 times from here???

Personal circle also affects. But organization is also important. It will be funny to see congressmen supporting an individual they had been opposing. Possibly they might have even personally criticized or even abused him in previous elections. Now they will praise the same person.

Yes of course...this is the best example of comedy of politics.
That's also the reason why, everyone eagerly waiting for it.....no one able to predict the winner.

Sir, I forgot to tell you one thing.
T.P.Chandrasekhar, one of the prominent leaders of Communist party, later started a new party was brutally murdered 1 month ago....and it's investigations is the hot topic of all newspapers for the last few months....Perhaps it's the most discussed political murder of this decade. All proofs are against CPM and more than 100 CPM members arrested till now. Congress is making this murder as a weapon to fight against Communist.
I think, this is the real factor to influence the results

I have also read this. Some leaders have even justified internal murders. This may affect the result. But if CPI(M) is criticized as killers' party, the Congress candidate is originally from that party only. Will the congress candidate say that he left CPI(M) because of these killings.

any way, the election result may be surprising. I am far away from Kerala and not aware of ground reality.

Actually, since many factors influencing the result, no one is able to predict the real winner. BJP is not strong here. So, they have less chances. Winner will be either Congress or communist

If BJP supporters feel that their party cannot win, they may vote for Congress. For BJP, Congress is better than CPI(M). If this happens, Congress chances improve.

My mother is saying she will vote for BJP. She will never give vote for a betrayer. Father says, he will vote for Congress, no other factor influences him. I am staying away. My brother also not interested, yet he may give vote for congress. Also his wife.
Each person has a reason to say....actually all are contradictory. Let us wait which reason is really predicting the result :P
