I think Som Nath Chatterjee is not yet proposed by anyone. He was nominated as speaker as an arrangement of congress with left but he sided with Congress. The congress used him momentarily and he is no more of any use to that party. So, congress or UPA will not propose him. The question of NDA supporting him does not arise. There can be no serious candidate without support of congress or BJP or both. The myth of conscience vote president worked only with V.V. Giri, who was Defacto Indira Gandhi led Congress group candidate.

I would prefer anyone who commands the respect of all for his or her unblemished record of public service and dignified conduct!

Any right thinking citizen will have similar choice in mind. But the fact remains that elected members of parliament and state legislatures have the choice. The political parties have the ultimate authority. Possibly, there are many other considerations also in selecting Presidential candidate.

I think this time narendra Modi have a better in that competition and going to beat everyone.

I don't know how Mr. Mody's name has popped up! He has an active political career ahead of him.Besides,he is a very controversial figure who figures in several riot-related cases which have been pending before courts!

Modi is least expected candidate for Presidential post. He is seen as Prime Ministerial candidate. No doubt he is controversial and not acceptable to many constituents of NDA. So far, neither UPA nor NDA have decided candidature for Presidential post. Some eminent person from academic or judicial field not involved in active party politics is likely to get wide acceptance.

Let hope that some prominent members should be selected by UPA and NDA that can Stand in front of Modi.......

What Presidential candidate has to do with Modi. Modi is a chief Minister and he is simply member of BJP and Gujarat assembly. Highlighting Modi in Presidential election is apparently ridiculous.

There is no direct election to Prime Minister's post and hence strong or weak contender for that post is meaningless.

As regards President's post, obviously, Modi is more or less irelevant

To make Modi a President would mean disaster as he would become totally ineffective and won't be able to do any good work that he is doing now!

I would prefer to see Pronov as our next president. He is ruthless finding new ways of taxing people and doing nothing as a finance minister. Now he has space for his morning walks and we to breath a little better. Petrol prices came down a little more than 3/as soon as he went.
