Whats your choice for the next president of our india???

A citizen has no choice to exercise as he has no vote in Presidential election. The President will be elected by Electoral college consisting of elected members of parliament and state legislatures. Presently, no political party or alliance is strong enough to get own candidate elected on its own. Hence, efforts for consensus candidate. There appear chances of Pranab Mukherjee or Hamid Ansari.
Hamid Ansari is an intellectual with teaching background and currently he is Vice President of India. I favor elevating him as President.

It is impossible to say who is the next President to our country.
It is, of course, not possible to say now as yet the UPA, NDA or any party has not taken decision. The choice of President depends on UPA, NDA, Left and the regional parties. It appears that they will arrive at a consensus and declare a candidate.
The role of president of India is very insignificant where it concerns taking major decisions that affect our country's economy, politically, industrially or in any manner. It is only a namesake role where President does not play any kind of influential role hence I think it should be completely abolished! There is no need for that extra exorbitant expenditure when we need that money elsewhere, especially in agricultural and water conservation enterprises.
A thought that keeps crossing my mind, Pratibha Patil is almost at the end of her tenure and she is not going to be making any contribution towards our country's well being, so what is doing a tour of Africa for???? A vacation for not doing anything for our country???

Even i also think she is not much popular or may be presidents of INDIA don't have much power like US presidents have that's why they are low profile here and even many of the people may not be knowing her name. :)
Very rue Sanjeev, at least the previous presidents did give some kind of insight as to what the future goals of our country should be, much like Dr. Kalam, but this lady, she is totally different from then in that she is completely passive about everything and has nothing to say about anything. Her only qualification before becoming a president was that she occasionally made dosas for the Gandhi family in Sonia's home!!! :woohoo:
What I feel that when they want to remove some one from active politics they either make him a governor or president (not in every case though) now if they have to clear some of the path for a new prime minister, they must remove Pranav from the scene. And what better than a president's post for him. Only problem is consensus.

True, I feel this is the logic that is employed most of the times, but still, is it worthwhile to spend so much of the tax[payer's money on an inconsequential and totally insignificant role, just to quake someone's ego???
