In fact URDU is no language but a dialect of Hindustani written in Persian script which is only promoting Arabian culture in India. Why can't the people write Urdu in their regional languages. People suggest writing Hindi in Roman script, the language having the potential of becoming the best computer language in the world, but when it comes to URDU (which is not even a language) it should be written in Persian. What a joke! Whom are we trying to appease?

I think it is incorrect to give a political angle to any change that happens in the country. The Hindi which we speak has a lot of Urdu words. So obviously it can not be totally removed from Text books. I'm sure such lessons can not be removed in UP where the language is spoken by many.Urdu is an Indian language and Modi himself uses them in plenty in his poems. Many a times the text books undergo changes for the betterment. Why should an issue be made out of it ? So far as having only Hindi or state local language in the primary level is concerned, in my opinion, it is not a good idea. With globalization, our next generation need to be at par with their counterparts from other countries. So they need to know the foreign languages as well and starting early makes the base strong.

In the present scenario of erasing the borders and the entire world is treated as a Global village, it is highly essential to learn English which is considered as Universal language .

In tune with this, in my state, English is made mandatory during High school education on wards. Of course it depends on the student's ultimate aims.

 Those who  do not aspire for foreign education and wish to continue in India will go for either Sanskrit or Telugu. This is what our education system in AP for the last few decades.

I favor writing all languages in Roman script. The Urdu stories in Rajasthan Textbooks were also in Devnagri script and not Persian. I have seen many invitation cards by Muslim in Deva Nagri script though language is Urdu.  I may reiterate here that Urdu and Hindi are similar. In our talk, it is not possible to say whether you are speaking in Urdu or Hindi. Personally, I favor writing Urdu in Devnagri script or Roman.

I am sure you know the fact that Muslims always prepare two sets of invitation cards in our area one for their Muslim friends and relatives In Persian and the other one for other communities in English or Hindi. It's the same as they prepare the menu for Muslims for marriage and other communities whom they invite for reception or Walima as the case is. I have been brought up in Lucknow and Allahabad so I can speak Urdu and have a liking for the language too. But when we link it with any religion or politicize it the problem begins.

It is my suggestion that from 6th to 12th class students must be learn one Indian language in each class. In 7 years 7 Indian language, Tamil, Telgu, Bangali, Marthi, Kannad,......

 

 

 

In Karnataka, students learn Kannada the state language as second language when English is the medium of education.They also learn Hindi as third language until 10th standard. I guess this happens in all the southern states..

Agreed. Your explanation clarified my doubts. Learning according to 3 language formula will not add any extra burden.

 

 

 

 

 

Urdu is supposed to have originated in the Mughal armies as a mixture of Hindi and Persian. Persiam and Arabian are very different from each other. It is natural for the new government whose ideology is different from that of the previous one to further its beliefs as was done by earlier governments. We should not ascribe negative  motives to justify the changes.
