Why are we so indifferent about corruption in India?

The fact is that most of us are corrupt. Every one wishes to remove corruption but wants to make an exception of himself and his family. People even justify their corruption as being a necessity for life. They even justify small corruption as 'salt in atta (wheat flour)'

We are indifferent because in some or the other way however small or big we are all involved in corruption. Simply in doctor's chamber I have noticed that patients usually do not want to wait for their turn and try to convince the compounder or nurse to see the doctor out of turn. This is a ridiculous practice.

I think it is difficult to weed out corruption out of our country because we have lost trust in a good and legal system of doing things. Going the right way, correct way is time consuming which only some of us prefer to do, but if we need to get things done in a jiffy we don't mind paying for it...which ultimately paves way for corruption.

A corrupt population gets a corrupt leader, so the answer lies there ! Indians are easily corruptible and thats the reason why our country is one of the most corrupt nations in the world today and it is not an easy task to change this ! If each individual takes a pledge not to be corrupt and not encourage corruption probably things would improve down the line, but how many people have that kind of dedication here ??

Being corrupt is an easy way to make money and for most people, giving in to corruption is an easy and safe way to get their work done. Red tapism at all levels of bureaucracy in India is rotten to the core with people simply tossing your files from desk to desk, department to department etc. with no one really willing to do your work. For common people, the wait is too long and hard and sometimes, fruitless endeavour. So instead, why not pay what is demanded and get your work done? Paying a few hundred to thousands rupees is an easy and sure way to get you that much-needed birth or death certificates, or a driving license or an affidavit or what not! Those who decide not pay, suffer in the process and either get papers too late or never at all! If even a handful few showed the courage, sooner or later others too would join and gather momentum. Everyone speaks about it, but no one wants to be part of that group of a handful few!

Actually no one has time to spare too.....all are busy....
without giving bribery it takes a long time for a government service to get finished and no one is patient enough to wait so long. So he uses short cuts, to make his works easy. So it doesn't mean only wrong things are bribed....we often bribe for good things to happy a bit early too......
Corruption and bribery wont happen if 'giver' doesn't think so. But what to do..no one thinks so......no one has time to think too

For a simple reason, we all are corrupt but we never stop accusing others.

It has to begin with us. We need to ensure that we are less corrupt ourselves.

No one is perfect. But someone who doesnt involve in corruption also not ready to raise against that. Since they dont want to face the consequences. Also everybody is busy with their own work.

I think we are indifferent because we are not aware of the impact it has on a big picture, more awareness from every level of corruption should be brought in.

Self centered attitude is more dangerous than corruption. Self centered people are capable of digging a grave for their own kith and kin for achieving their ends. Then of course there are several factors like corruption, hypocrisy and double standards that contribute for being indifferent to corruption.

We are not ready to wait for our tasks to getting delayed. We want everything should be finished quickly.

Corruption root is very deep. It cannot to destroy easily. We can think to decrease it... First of all we have to start it from ourselves.

Roots of corruption are very deep in our country. Every department, every public servant involved in corruption. Every one got habit of doing his work by any means, so it is difficult but putting efforts we can minimize corruption.
