Presently, we have virtually two party system. even though many parties, virtually there are two alliances- Congress led UPA and BJP led NDA. The issue is with people and their character rather than political parties. even the multiplicity of parties is rooted in people's character. The tendency of personality cult, regionalism, communalism, sectarianism etc. give rise to faulty priorities and also many parties based on region, religion and personalities.
There will be a change when people look at politicians as 'manager' and not as 'object of worship'.
It certainly would make a big difference as any one who is not satisfied with his original party forms one for his own and begins bargaining with the one that he left a week before. We have so many so called big leaders who parted with mother party in the names of particular points and later started supporting same parties from outside or inside to remain in power. 2-3 party system would throw such one man parties out of context. At least that will help keep decorum of the house.
It doesn't make any difference. The key component in a democratic system is the "Individual" who has the awareness that he is the master and the rulers are the custodians. In the absence of this awareness in the people any type of party system will be an exercise in futility.
If we count small parties too, we have many more.. So I don't think situation will change at all.. We need totally different thing to have something unique, making more parties will just make things worse.. that's what i think.
of my opinion in a way it effects a little because too many regional parties weakening the government at center,if any of the national parties could not able to won majority seats.they are making the central government to listen to them otherwise they have option of getting out of the central government
In India we have a multi-party system and hence we face so many problems, and a lot of money goes into conducting elections with minimum development. I think a bi-party system would be able to make all the difference and development we need.
My answer is a thumping "YES". Small political parties have a lot of potential in disturbing the equations at the center. If the prominent parties are allowed and others dissolved or merged, there will certainly be a sea change.
Yes, if there were to be only 2 or three parties in all of India, it would make a big difference, I don't know whether it will bring about any positive changes or not, that certainly is doubtful. But it would disturb the ratio of representation of people from all castes, sects and religions. I am saying this because it is an unarguable fact that in spite of being literate, educated and so on, people still have a tendency of following only those who belong to their own respective clans or creeds. And most of the political parties that exist also follow this as a rule and major parties are formed around this fact. And even the leaders tend to give influential roles, duties to only those who belong to their own caste and class. So if it were to be only limited parties, the castes with the most money, power and influence would end up dominating the ones who do not have and the weaker ones would not be left with much role to play in the country's politics.
if India have two or three political party it strength of democracy. It is demand of present time. Indeed India have only 3 national level parties. Congress, BJP and left front. All other parties are regional. Having two or three party is not possible in India. because of different language and tradition.
