Mere Sapnon Ki Rani's original version

Mere Sapnon Ki Rani from Aaradhana - this single song changed the destiny of Rajesh Khanna, Kishore Kumar, Anand Bakshi and of course R. D. Burman (rumoured to ghost-compose the song), and gave rise to the great quadrumvirate of 1970s. I once heard in a TV show, the first stanza of this iconic song was inspired from an English song of 1940s. Can you tell me which song is it?

The same English song was later re-used for one noted song of year 1995 - Le Chappiyaan from the movie Haqueeqat starring Ajay Devgan and Tabu.

I got the answer, so thought to share it here,

It's Tequila by Daniel Flores (1957). The song was indeed popular in India, and many people knew it, though unaware of the composer/singer. The same tune was lifted by Kishore Kumar and used by him for Ghumroo in 1961. The song was Ae Baba Loo Baba, and later used for Aradhana (rumoured to be used by R.D, for two songs which became huge chartbusters - Mere Sapnon Ki Rani and Roop Tera). Years later, it was used for the film Haqeeqat (1995)
