Which is the best composition of R. D. Burman according to you?

Bollywood is a green field of so many talented music directors, yesterday and today. A group of people prefer old composers like S.D, Naushad, SJ or Nayyar while youngsters choose Rahman Rhythms or Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio. But there exists one composer, though received a lot of blames that he westernized Indian tunes, remains as the popular composer among music lovers of all groups - R.D. That may be the reason why his tunes are remixed most.

Though his tunes were fast comparing other music directors of 70's, his tunes of Amar Prem, Aandhi and Parichay proved that he can handle both wise - Indian tunes as well as western or a combination of both.

So, according to you, which is the best composition of R.D? It's not at all easy to choose a particular song or two. Yet what's your choice?

My choice is Aanewala Pal of Golmaal. Second choice may be Na jaa o mere humdum of Pyar ke mausam. It doesn't mean, it was the best composition of R.D. Yet Aanewala pal is a particular song which I love to hear repeatedly and it gives a strange feeling too while listening, though I can't point out what.

Sandhya Rani A big Fan of R.D's 1980s songs if Aandhi excluded from the list.

In the 1980s, R.D has been the single original composer of Bollywood. When whole music world moved towards disco numbers of Bappi Lahiri, Laxmikanth Pyarelal too stepped into the same shoes. But RD stayed away and that may be the reason why his songs couldn't make to the top list in the 1980s. But now, it's known to everybody, RD never compromised with music and his songs of 1980s have made to the list of nostalgic and evergreen hits

RD's songs are all extraordinary and it will be a challenging task to name any one song as his best! But of course, the choice of each person will differ, you may like one song, another may like a different song.

For me personally, my Pancham favorites are songs like Mehbooba, Mehbooba from Sholay, Tujhse Naraz Nahin Zindagi from Masoom, and Chura Liya Hai Tumne Dilko from Yadon ki Baraat !

It is very difficult to limit to one or two songs only since I have many favorites, probably a hundred songs or more ... writing down a few that immediately come to my memory !
1, Tere bina zindgi se koyi - Aandhi
2, Matwale aankhonwale - Chote nawab
3, Tum ne mujhe dekha - Teesri manzil
4, Aaao jhoome gaaye - Paraya Dhan
5,Jaane jaa dhoondtha phir raha - Jawani diwani

Sandhya Rani Shammi Kapoor songs have a special place in my heart. In my childhood days, I was a die hard fan of Shammi Kapoor as he was the only hero who dances, while others were so quiet onscreen. Actually he made me love Hindi songs for the first time.
Yet if someone ask me to pick my most favourite Shammi song, it's not at all a teasing number, but a soft, romantic and touching song - Tum ne mujhe dekha. Great to know it's one of your favourites

Sandhya Rani Have you seen Hum dil de chuke sanam? There is a scene where Ajay Devgan sings the same song before Aish's father to impress him, when the Ustad asks him to sing a song. - Sandhya Rani - 11 years ago

It is so difficult to narrow down to just one song. I like all the songs and it would not be fair to pick one.
