We can see everything on TV, every bit and brick of a lovely place that we may never get to visit, every beautiful animal from a country we can never see with our own eyes, this is what TV has brought to us - vast, unimaginable sources of knowledge. But has that played foul on our ability to visualize and imagine, at least I think so! what is your take on this?

I feel that travel programs and channels like National Geographic and Discovery actually makes us even more eager to visit all those lovely places.however, the news media depicting human tragedies and the violence , scams and other real life atrocities leave you numb and instead of feeling horrified, you are actually able to take it in your stride and I hate this kind of immunity and insensitivity that TV has brought into our lives.Having said that, I am not sure if we would be happier if we were not fed what is happening in our society, all the graphic details...in which case we probably would grumble because we don't get enough!
I think watching TV too much neutralizes our imagination. It makes our mind numb and we don't feel the need to imagine anything. I have spent more than a year without watching TV and at that period my life was very much imaginative and creative. Our imagination grows when our mind is free.
If you are talking about travel programs, then my answer is "yes". For those people who havne't been able to travel and just heard, for example. that Kashmir is heaven of India, TV is a good source for them to experience the beauty, at least from their homes. No need to imagine how beautiful Kashmir may be.
Watching on TV and watching something alive in front of us is two different things. It has different effects on our mind and body. I would love to imagine and fulfil my dreams in real world. TV is fiction not real.
TV is a good source of entertainment and knowledge. What one actually get depends on his interest. TV is just a source of information like books and internet and does not in any diminish or neutralize a viewer's imagination.
As per me, I don't think it can change this thing for everyone. I mean I keep imagination of certain things even I used to watch too much tv.. he he. I guess sometime it can give you more imagination.
It depends on program that we will like to watch. If we like channel like discovery than no chance of neutralizes our imagination. You we like to watch serials of family drama than only god can help us. I don't like to watch TV too much.
I don't quite agree with this statement that a television neutralizes imagination. We can say the same thing for both Internet. I think it adds to our imagination and takes our imagination a step further. TV in someways fulfills our dreams and whims and fantasies at times!
Up to some extent, especially if you watch Indian news channels and serials. They are so repetitive and boring you will feel you would be better off in no TV era.
