Best Bollywood/regional movie 2014
Definitely Haider is my choice. Nowadays I spent too much time to watch movies online and occasionally visit theatres. I saw Haider online, before it completed one week at theatres. Shahid's performance is spectacular to watch and it won't be a big surprise if he gets National award this time. Holiday, Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya and Queen also impressed me very much. I am looking forward to Peekay.
If asked to choose regional film, it has been one of the best years of Malayalam in the recent times as we witnessed some fresh topics and outstanding performance by youngsters. Definitely this year goes to Manju Warrior, and a bunch of youngsters - Dulquer Salmaan (Mammootty's son), Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim. It's difficult to choose one movie. My most favourite ones are 1983, Om Shanti Osana and Bangalore days, where Nivin Pauly played lead role aside Nazriya Nazim, except the movie - 1983, where he was paired with Srinda Ashab. In the second half of the year, Mammootty's Munnariyippu and Prithviraj's Saptama sree thaskara (similar to the plot of Happy New Year) impressed me most. I missed Dulquer Salmaan's Jnaan though it's critics' choice for best movie this year. How old are you, Vellimoonga and 7th day....a few more critics' choices.
None of Tamil movies of 2014 impressed me this time.....except a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual Vaaye moodi pesum starring Nazriya Nazim and Dulquer Salmaan, which told the strange story of communication through signs, when a strange disease affects a town.
