Yes, I have read and heard a lot about such trends. Egg whites are supposed to be loaded with proteins and free from cholesterol and fat that is present in egg yolks. Hence people who are trying to lose weight and people who are trying to add muscle mass to their bodies and are advised to go on high-protein diets are the ones who eat mostly egg whites and nothing else. For a short period of time, it might be beneficial but in the long run it may present several problems as they are deprived of nutrients too.
And for people who are not on any special diet but eat only egg whites are depriving themselves of complete nutritional benefits from a whole egg. Occasionally okay, but not advisable to do that always!
Egg yolk is not good for health. It is the egg white which makes you healthy. People who go to gym and do exercise are given instructions to have egg white every day. If you leave it even for a day or two, your course will break. You should start eating egg once again to provide your body the nutrients.
I have been using the entire egg, that is both yellow and white part of an egg ever since i remember. For the last many years, m,y weight stood at 68 Kgs for my 5.11 frame. No ailment except an occasional cold. I eat both veg and non- veg moderately and do a regular mild yoga. I don't know the source of nutrients ( from egg or other sources) that keep me always in full spirits.
According to nutritional experts it is better to limit onself to 3 or 4 eggs in a week , may be 5 -6 eggs if you are not a non vegetarian....Eggs are no doubt very nutritious and healthy but too much of anything is bad except probably vegetables and fruits..
Egg is one of the most nutritious wholesome breakfast item available at a very cheap cost. It is delicious in taste, light on stomach and high on energy and protein that is required for the body. Indeed a very rare product.
