The Mediterranean diet is a modern nutritional recommendation inspired by the traditional food habits in Mediterranean countries such as Italy, Greece, Morocco and Spain. Their traditional food comprises mostly of garlic, olive oil, citrus fruits, olives, tomatoes and various varieties of cheeses and wines. All of these foods are believed to be very healthy for heart and hence is now recommended by many nutritionists.
