The sun rises once a year in the arctic on the vernal equinox and sets once at the autumnal equinox.When the axis of rotation of the earth is parallel to the direction of motion of the earth. This is when equinoxes occur.

Yes,, because of the earth's postion in relation with the Sun.

The Sunrise & Sunset at both the poles is ONCE in a year.
which means, we have only one sunrise & only one sunset of 6 months each. One day of 6months & one night of 6 months approx.

At South Pole - Sunrise is on 21st September each year & sunsets are 22nd March each year.
The reverse is the case at the North Pole. So a polar day is about 6 months and a polar night is also about 6 months.
