Can animals recognize their kids after years?

The question may look funny. But it's a serious question. Among all animals, human beings show strong bond towards their kids almost till their death.

It's law of nature that animals (and birds) except human beings allow their kids to make space of their own once they turn mature, to some extend human beings too though they still love kids. What about animals and birds? They show great affinity to kids when they are babies, similar to human beings. But what happen to them after years? Can they recognize their kids? Do they show some kind of affinity towards them?

This is an intriguing question. There could be ways for animals to recognize their kids once they are grown. They know it best.

Human children can usually recognize their parents even after years of separation. Studies show that Dogs can recognize their parents and siblings, but whether that recognition is based on scent or some other factor is still  not known for certain. About Birds also, the ability to recognize their offspring is yet to be known.

If a child is separated from its parents at an early age whether in humans or animals it is not possible to recognise each other after years of separation when the child has become an adult. There have been several cases reported where parents and lost children were in contact but never relaised their connection until was revealed to  them through some other source. What is being spread is what we see in films..Normally when the two grow in totally different environment it is impossible to reognise each other.
