Your most favourite book/story in your childhood

Let's go back to our childhood days for a short while. If you recollect your childhood days, which books/story would you like to mention? Kids love fairy tales a lot. I was a die-hard fan of Mayavi during my younger days. It was published in Balarama Kids weekly. It's characters - Mayavi, Kuttusan, Luttappi, Raju, Radha and Daakini are nostalgic to many who lived their childhood days in the 1980s and 1990s. I also got attracted to Russian fairy tales, Vikram-Vetal stories, Panchatantra etc in those days. What about your childhood memories?

I used to love reading chandamama and Enid Blytons story books ,later it was Nancy Drew and so on..

This question brings back those nostalgic feelings. My all time favorite story has been one told by my grandmother with lots of singing and repeated sequencing. I too used that story for my daughters. My grandfather told us the unknown or less known stories of Indian mythology, that used to keep our little mind wandering and even nurtured our young minds with the moral preaching that it conveyed. My grandparents were very skilled story teller and story telling was a part of our everyday childhood ritual.

When it comes to books, I remember waiting for newspaper vendor to deliver Nandan, Champak and Chandamama. In comics, Chacha Choudhary and Sabu ruled. Slowly we moved to Tintin, Stories of Roald Dahl and then to Nancy Drew and so on. Roald Dahl still fascinates me and I love to read it with my daughters.
