is india a really world player in software

Actually we are working for others so our contribution doesn't look as good as it really is. Like we are basically developers for foreign based companies so it would look as if we stand at lower level but fact is we are at top in software development.

India has not reached that height. Till now we are working for some other companies situated abroad.

We are buying most of software from U.S.A.. There is no substitute for Microsoft even now. We may be progressing in software but we are not world leaders.

Yes, I agree with what Mr. Ajmani has said here..though we may have progressed in terms of software we are still lagging behind coming something of our own indigenous.

Although we have a large number of software companies in India, they are merely franchisees or support subsidiaries of their counterparts in USA and Europe, with only a few exceptions. Whatever software related work is done here, it is done for someone else and not largely for our use. So India is not really a world leader in the industry but rather a provider of skilled manpower!
