The best and famous sari type is 'Benaras Silk sari.' There are others famous in their regions like Gadwal, Kanchi,Pochampalli, Kota to name a few

There are so many varieties that I don't even know of..but I like bengali handloom saree...tat silk/cotton/ kathastitch, then there are other saree such a bangalore silk, kanjeevaram and banarase silk are most preferred and popular among women folk.

There are so many varieties .I would say all the handloom types of sarees from different states and silks which are hand woven are all unique to India.Handloom sarees in cotton and spun sarees are all beautiful..
