There are three types: Inkjet, Lasterjet and Dot matrix.

Mostly Dot matrix is used for office purpose. But this is old thing, now they are using laser jet more as it gives more quality in compare of dot matrix.

Inkjet printers are cheap in price, but its refilling work is costly in compare of others. So at home people using using inkjet and for office purpose laser jet is best.

Dot matrix is outdated. The printers presently in vogue are ink jet and laser.

In printer you can find three types . 1) Dot Matrix 2)Inkjet 3)Laser

all the three are used for both office and home use depending upon your necessity. They differ in the catridge used and the technology used.

For office purpose mostly laser or Dot matrix is used as they are durable and give more prints compare to inkjet..

For color prints however dot matrix can not be used..
