Driver is used to install various hardware and application on any computer platform.

If you are talking about driver or device driver, terms related to computer then this is the exact meaning

Any device which should be connected to the computer inorder to work needs a program to communicate with the operating system. This programs can be stated as device driver.

Whether it is printer, speakers, projector or any other device need installation of drivers to work or communicate with OS..

We always install different kind of hardware on our computer. But we also need drivers (set of data) to install so that our computer can identify that new hardware easily.

A Driver is Software that allows your computer to communicate with Hardware or Devices.

 

Computer hardware don't recognize the programs that we use. so, a driver simply converts program language into machine language(0 & 1) so that hardware can access it.
So we can say, a hardware is a program that connects our system software to the hardware we have.
We have different drivers for different parts of hardware. such as graphics, sound, printers etc.

Our OS system work only after installing driver. Driver support your hardware or software devices.
