In simplest language Data Mining is a technology to extract relevant information from large and/or scattered databases. In general database concept we usually learn to normalize data but in data mining we prefer de-normalization (reverse technique of normalization).

Data Mining Really it’s too good for people who r interested in data mining.

I think if you type data mining in google, you could come up with 1000s of results.

Data mining is the process of converting data into information.

Data are the raw ones, which are of not much use, and Information are the ones that give us meaning. For example, if we take a survey of a retail store, all the data collected from the customer from basket size is of no use, untill it is analyzed and proper queries are answered. So that which is analyzed and becomes the answer for the queries are called information.

Data mining is simply identifying meaningful information by understanding patterns, from random data which may or may not be structured.

To pocess raw data into meaningful data is called data mining.

Data mining is the analysis of data for relationships that have not previously been discovered.
