Suggestion to increase Karma Points?

I do not about members why the give negative vote but its your luck. Try to do best to increase Karma points.

As rightly pointed out, Karma is measure of popularity of a member in the site. The points are on the other hand a measure of activity. As purpose of both differs, let us not confuse by modifying the schemes. I do not favor adding karma on the basis of points.

However, I feel our members should get some guidelines for adding or deducting karma. If a member has reason to appreciate another member for views, style or any thing, he should add karma. If he dislikes a member's views, style of writing or anything, he may give him negative karma. The members should freely and more frequently use their power of voting by adding or deducting karma.
Karma must be kept separate and unrelated from points.

I think it right Gulshan but as per member performance some karma point may be decided by Moderator to add automatically.

santosh- Points measure performance and karma indicate popularity. By mixing up the two, we shall not have a clear picture of popularity. To elucidate, I have four karma points. This means that I am more popular than some one with three karma but less popular than some with five karma. If the rule is changed, the number of karma will not reflect the popularity correctly and thus will lose the purpose.

But there is a need to stress the importance of using 'karma' voting in best and effective way.

Gulshan I think its right system in boddunan but it some addition to this system than more enjoyment dear.

Santosh- i had added one karma to you and it was four. again someone has deducted and it is again 3.
actually, this karma procedure is very funny. This depends on the members most of whom do not bother about it. everyone bothers more about points.
So, I think either the current system should continue or let us end Karma.

No Gulshan I think Karma point should be there but its should be as per member works and perfection . It should not be game.

I agree. But let the members be educated about karmas so that they use the system judiciously.

I think lot of discussion made for Karma point now its time to wait Moderator reply.

When someone increase Karma some one decrease it.So I think there should be a permission from moderator for both this activities.Those who increase / decrease should give genuine reasons also.What do you think ?

I think you are right there should be comment if anyone decrease Karma because negative karma give bad impression.

We are not aware who increase and decrease.Usually when one increase he declares it.But when decrease keep silence.It is not good.Say it also openly.

I think you are right Abid. At least Member should know who decrease karma point. Its one type of silence game.

I wonder how a member can have - points!Although I am personally not in favour of discouraging any member by using 'smite' but it does carry logic with it.As far as disclosure of name is concerned,any disclosure might create strain in relationship.Let us accept it sportingly.Perhaps Gulshan has come up with most lucid and convincing views on 'karma'.I am not sure whether members who are trying to relate it to point,have understood the basic concept behind 'karma'.It is the only right members have where boddunan plays no role and let it remain so.

Until now I did not clearly understand the concept of karma, but after reading Gulshan's comments, now I fully understand it and I support his views. Increasing or decreasing karma points should be well left entirely to the members taking into consideration that we are all responsible adults and would use this power of voting reasonably and without any spite or biasese against each other. Since it is indicative of popularity on the forums let us not relate them with points. That would not be feasible.

Also as Abid has suggested, let us openly declare the negative points too- but only upon will. Those who do wish to, let them be!!

The beauty of this right lies in its secrecy and any interference with it, is going create unnecessary and undesirable unplesantness.I once again call upon members to take it in their stride.If someone decides to take away my karma points I won't give it a damn!
