I have heard that Sachin has few years back, refused to give donation to a charity. I felt strange when he decided to join politics.

Prominent people are nominated to Rajya Sabha for their contribution to literary, musical and other fields. The members are generally free from political aspirations

I wonder why they become MPs in the first place? just to add another feather in their cap? or is it because our politicians are so stupid that they want to have glamorous personalities around them, even if they dont do anything much except spend tax payers money...Earlier there were the likes of Nargis Dutt who did take a keen interest in the proceedings !

Rajya sabha nominations are more of a joke than anything else since nothing much is achieved there , all the major decision making is done in the lok sabha and the members of Rajya sabha are expected to toe the line ...So, one wonders if there is no point in having these two houses why not scrap the rajya sabha or merge it with lok sabha and save some revenue !
