We can never forget the Uttarakhand tragedy since it is a lesson for human beings on living life in harmony with nature ! Other than that I notice that this year the rains are much heavier than it ec=ver was. Here in Mangalore we have been having extremely heavy rains since th beginning and almost all the rivers are overflowing and flooding the fields and nearby houses ! It would be interesting to know about the fury of monsoon this year from different parts of the country from members here ...

The capital city of Bihar does not get enough rainfall. This unbalancing rainfall is matter of thinking.

It does not rain according to human necessity. It will rain even in area without any population. We only need to use rain to our advantage and take precautionary measures when excessive rain takes place.
Monsoon like other natural phenomenon is uncertain and unpredictable. We have no option but to accept this. all we need is alternative irrigation facilities in case of drought and flood control measures in even of excess rain.

Connecting river is best alternative to check floods and fight with drought.

Many years ago, connecting the rivers was proposed. But it has never taken a shape.

As it is there are enough problems with water sharing....I wonder how things will work out if they plan on connecting the rivers !!! In Karnataka every year during the height of summer the problem comes up when Tamil Nadu demands water to be released and there is not enough water in the reservoir to meet the states own demands...

Water sharing problems and disputes between the states are there and they will be there. Alamatti and Andhra water dispute is a never ending issue
Just today we got heavy rain here.

We are having really good/heavy rain in Gujarat since a week. Surely more than normal.

In AP,many districts had more rain than normal, except my own district, Vizag.. But still, the shortage of water for irrigation will come from Godavari which had received very good rainfall.
Ha ha.. Same thing here.. Here whole state is having good rain, except my city.. Just today we got good rain here. :D

Because it was proposed by NDA government and now for ten years UPA government is in power. It is tradition in India to cancel any project of former government or slow down.
We experienced every weather at its extreme this year. We had lowest temperatures, hottest summers and now heavy rains.

Extremes are invariably linked with ecological abuse.

Yes that's true.. In that case we can see very cold winter too next to rain.

Yes. It goes without saying that all the forthcoming seasons will be extreme, be it summer, winter or monsoon.

I sincerely hope not ,because it would cause so much suffering to people. As it is I get to read about people losing their houses and belongingings due to flooding, it is so difficult to put their lives back again because most of them are poor or middle class people...
Its true .. But look like weathers are getting change.. All thanks pollution and having less trees.

No wonder if we see even more unexpected changes in near future.

Yes, we are on the threshold of an imminent ecological catastrophe.
Remember, the developed countries are not that affected with this problem because they have kept a close vigil on both pollution and population.

What about the recent tornado in California and very recent flood devastation in China?

I am referring to problems within reach of mankind, pollutions and population, not natural calamities. Man has not reached to that level yet.
