We should consider per capita income or consumption, preferably in kind, for example food calories, cloth, dwelling space per capita. I feel we are poor. Even if you use public utilities, the roads used by us are poor and narrow. As our population is excessive, we have less space and resources per capita.

The data has ignored the space per capita available. Land including natural resources is the main input for people to work and create wealth. Beyond a certain level, the increasing number go to reduce per capita income, wealth etc. In these circumstances, there is one remedy. People may acquire more skills and work in other countries. This has an effect of transferring excess population, may be temporarily, to other less populated regions. Inflow of money from foreign earnings has contributed to prosperity of regions like Punjab.

Exactly sir, as I come from Punjab basically although settled in NCR or work else where but as far as I know India has more potential in obtaining greater heights if only our dirty politics and policy makers allow us to do that. thanks for you great contribution.

Written statics may not be true because all people won't reveal their correct income due to the fear of income tax, particularly business people, politicians and celebrities. Am I right?
I don't know about the figures.. but as per many news and statements I don't think India is poor country at all.
If we can collect all our money scattered all over the places in the world, we are the richest by any standard.
Yes that's what I heard in news too. But I don't think someone can bring those money back to now.. We all know we having money in all over the world since long but still nothing done. :(
