in this thread a new homophone will be posted every day which will help improve our command over the language.

sun is in sky

sum and some

sum means addition
some means little
sale and sail


Sale - selling a product
Sail - sailing on water
will and wheel.

will as in wish
and wheel as in wheel of the vehicle.
mill and meal
mill as in factory
meal as in food
pill and peel
pill meaning medicine
peel meaning peeling the cover of veggies
homonym of the day
complement: A thing that completes or brings to perfection.
compliment: to praise someone
another homophone:
idle: not working or active
idol: a person or thing greatly loved or adored.
idyl: A short poem or prose piece depicting a rural or pastoral scene

Peace means silent and piece means a single cloth piece.
plain, plane

plain means soft and plane means aeroplane.
@ sarala in your example advice is the noun and advise is the verb.
ship and sheep.
ship- vehicle for commuting in sea
sheep- animal
@ vidhimayur...i dont think ship and sheep are exactly homophones.
Vidhi The ship and sheep does not come under homophones.They are having different speelings and different meaning.
