Traditions and customs may have some validity but many of them like the Sati system, blind superstitious practices carry on simply because they have been done so for centuries. So, in our own interest it is always better to test something thoroughly before validating it as fact, that's how science works as we all know. There are scientific truths behind some age old practices but many of them get carried forward without any factual evidence simply because our elders told us so.

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

May be some of the traditions were blind, but some of the traditions have scientific reasons behind them. But in the name of modernization we are leaving behind these traditions.

Of course many of them do have some valid reason, however, if Sindoor is so good why restrict it only to women and also bangles..The knotted unkempt pile of hair more than anything makes a person look very untidy and lazy, forget about the energy conservation..When it is a question of personal habits one can make excuses because one has the freedom to choose whether to wear a tika or  touch the feet of the elders etc ..I too come from a very traditional family where many of the elders keep on telling us to do things in a certain way. We agree because we dont want to go against them. However, I have questioned many practices and argued against some and they do listen and give their version...also willing to change  if they felt there was no validity !

yeah we are leaving most of the traditional which our forefather use to do earlier, but there are also many tradition which should be ignored by us because there are some blind faiths also which can effect us

I support @Usha's view point. Longevity of tradition is no guarantee of its efficacy. In age of science proof is a must for all theories.

If you have faith on Ayurveda or yoga or any such Ancient therapeutic practices, go ahead. No need to look for others approval.

What is Ayurveda? It is nature and we all is part of nature. How some one can we don't believe in Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is the natural way to treat a disease, while allopathy treats disease by using some chemicals. In some cases allopathy is unable to remove disease completely, but Ayurveda works on the root cause of disease. In case of Allopathy the relief is quick, but in case of Ayurveda it works slowly with some precautions and some eating and lifestyle limitations. That's why some people prefer allopathy than Ayurveda.
