I have seen people they think helmet a way to get rid of traffic police  they don't understand that it is essential to wear it when they are on road. Why they don't understand it that safety is first thing they should keep in mind when they drive.

All know it's for saftey but just put it to avoid the fee for not using it. Even the traffic police cannt do anything in such matter, when people get ready for paying fee.
That's why I make the habit of the helmet when I use my bike.

Its better for us if we make it a habit otherwise not only it is risky for us in terms of safety  as well as the penalty rates has also increased recently.

Penalty does not discourage people as they are rich enough. The best remedy is to seize the driving licence and vehicle for certain period.

I think they have modified the rule or planning to modify it.

Now i think it is like if the person is caught for jumping red light his license number is fed in the database and when next time if the same person is caught jumping red light then he will be charged with double fine and the same thing is repeated his/her license is cancelled. :)

 May be that's why most of the people are following this rule now..

And i think you too are following the rules due to this.

I never broke the traffic rules even before the challan rates were not increased,
I was following this rule because of this.. But now I became used to of helmat.. I know it is for safety but to be honest yes I wear it just because of those police man.

Don't worry it will come in your habit soon. :)

I have the habit of tying seat belt when i sit in the car my friends don't like it but let them don't its my safety i should not bother about people. :)
I already got that habit.. Now everywhere I go I am using helmet on bike and seat belts during driving car.

That is good habit Anand safety is the first thing and we should try to safe our self first while going on roads.
I won't mind having seat belt on.. But still if they lift up the helmet rule, I will stop wearing it.. Helmet is surely not good when we are seeing back for some vehicles..(as i don't having side mirrors on my bike) he he
I do think some of them wear helmet to get rid of the traffic police.
Always safety first. We should follow all traffic rules also while driving two or four wheeler.
Many do not wear helmets even to escape police action. They happily pay fine if occasionally caught. Thus fine is no remedy. The best thing is that people voluntarily wear helmet. There should be no compulsion. If it is compulsory, there should be stricter action like seizing the vehicle and suspending driving licence.

It seems there is some grammatical mistake in the first sentence.

That's right people should not be forced to wear the helmets they themselves should think of their safety. :)
Helmets were made strict in our state only a few months ago.....as you know, we Keralites prefer to disagree first to everything.

How many strikes were conducted in our state a couple of years ago when rules were made strict :S
But now, it has made strict, though in rural places not fully implemented yet.
Wearing helmet is compulsory in tamilnadu as per government rules. But, this has been strictly followed only in major cities and still many cities doesn't following the rules. :(
People must understand wearing helmet is safe for themselves only.

Strike? I did not hear it.

Yes its really tough to start anything new for the government however even if it is good for them.

Still in UP i have not seen the rule of waering helmets on 2 wheelers that much strict.I rarely see people there wearing helmets while driving.
SJ.. I guess everywhere there is same condition. Not all people like to follow the rules.

This is because majority of people believe that rules are made to be broken But i think this is time they should change their mentality at least they should obey the traffic rules these are made for their safety only. :)
