Donald Trump and his Anti Moslem Stand: Any lessons?

Donald Trump is presently the leader in the race for Republican nomination for president. He has fearlessly articulated some strong views on Muslims. He has called a halt to Muslims entering USA. Round up of all Muslims in America for verification and severe action against

Muslim terror groups including reprisels. Most Americans support him. Can India take leaf from Trumps book? Can the anti terror laws scrapped as appeasement be restored?

Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Presidential Front-runner criticized Donald Trump over his anti-Muslim rhetoric. According to Hillary Clinton, the remark of Donald Trump is offensive and dangerous. Participating in the last Democratic Presidential Debate in Miami, she raised her voice against Donald Trump by saying that the American people will never elect a President who insults Mexicans, Muslims, women and blacks.

I frankly dont blame the Americans and American leaders for putting their country above everything else.If  an American citizen is harrassed in any part of the world , the government immediately springs into action ! Cut that back to what happens to our naval people taken over by Somali pirates...The poor ladies ( wives of the merchant navy officers who were kidnapped )  had to try and meet the former PM, Sonia Gandhi and others several times after almost 4 months , before anything was even thought of and finally the two of the officers  came back by escaping , not because our pathetic government helped. But if Rahul Gandi or any other political leader was taken by pirates I guess  things would have been different ! ..Let us not even compare our nation with America, they have their priorities right ..

The lesson from Trump is make your own country great, damm what world thinks. We are weak and even now 40 workers from Punjab are in ISI captivity in Iraq. Great Modi seems to have failed there.

We will have to wait and see as we are only onlookers. But my info is that if hillary is nominated against Donald, she is a sure lower. She in any case represents big business. There is an anti democratic sentiment at present. Remember Reagon was similarly castigated, he won and broke the Soviet empire

It would be worthwhile to know how Reagan broke the Soviet Empire ?

Honestly I dont trust Trump for a single minute because he is a very cunning business man at the end of the day and will look after his interests ! However, anti terror laws certainly need to be tightened here in India because we are much more open to terror attacks

Yes I am agreed it is only election stunt. He is not speaking any thing about Pakistan who is major producer of terrorist.

No I don't think it is an election stunt. He is articulating the feelings in America. Trump is not talking of nations , but communuties. When he castigates Muslims , Pakistan is included. He is worried of Pakistan Nukes. That is the reason he says the US must not leave Afghanistan to save Pak nukes falling into hands of ISI etc.

It is good thing that he worried about Pakistan Nukes. But I think all Muslim community is not terrorist.

I agree with you,but I will quote Satyapal Singh the Ex Commissioner of Police Mumbai. He stated " All Muslims are not terrorists, buy 99.5% of the terrorists caught are Muslim"

Reagon deserves a lot of Credit for the breaking of the Evil Empire as he dubbed the USSR

I feel that a united USSR would have been good for the world , both politically and economically

Unfortunately USSR could not integrate all the nationalities like Cossacks, Muslims,  Arabs, Turks, Armenians and Christians. It broke because it was a historical aberration. There are many similarities with India which also is unable to integrate all the Hindu groups, Sikhs, Muslims , untouchables etc.  We have survived because the CIA and USA don't want India to break. The day the USA decides to break India like the plan John Dulles, CIA director made for USSR, India will be finished. There are plenty of disgruntled communities in India. After all the Chinese institute of Strategic Studies has foreecast breakup of India. .

The first thing that Trump will do is he will abolish H1B Visa that allows US based companies appoint skilled workers from other countries to popularize himself among Americans.

Looking at this from the American point of view it can be apreciated. India will suffer, but the obvious lesson is nation first. This is where we lag.My American GF is very happy with this, though it does not stop her from a holiday at the Mercure Resort with me.

This lesson does not work for Indians. Some of the so-called "Intellectuals" take pride  in talking against interest of India as they consider it will get them International recognition or even Awards.

I agree with you. There is an excellent book which I have just read by Wendy Doniger titled " The Hindus, an Alternative History". In this book she states that educated Hindus are in the habit of denigrating Hinduism. these educated Indians seem to have a problem with Hindu India, but not with Muslim or Christian nations.

This is where we must take lessons from Donald Trump. He talks of " making America Great".  Why cant we do the same talking without fear and vote bank politics. Donald is not afraid to antagonize the Hispanics, Moslems and otehrs who he feels are pulling America down. He has just opined that " muslims hate us". here we have politics of fear and as pointed out by Wendy Doniger in her book, the Hindu elite is itself denigrating Hinduism. So sad.

If leaders put nation before all else, everything falls in line ! Here in India, we dont even have a uniform civil code , add to that the caste factor and of course the minority community, I doubt if other minorities are really considered given their small number. The country can go to dogs as long as Netas get elected by hook or crook ,,

This is the bane of India, where Making India great is nothing. Vote banks is everything even if the constitution is violated. The denialof India as a Hindu nation is another.

With the kind of love Trump is seizing upon to promote his candidacy will America survive ? He is packaging xenophobia, jingoism in the crudest manner possible negating all values America stands for. For example he

blasts his probable democrat rival Clinton like this: If she can not satisfy her husband how can she satisfy America! Please friends do not fall for pseudos! I would be hating myself if I have to take lessons of patriotism from Trump. He has been at this abominable game for all his selfish gains.

Look at it from the Arican pint of view.  There is palpable anger in America and Trump is articulating that. Picking up Trumps words selectively is not right for an Indian where worse things are said. In Indian elections. I don't want to clutter this page by quoting some most crude and offensive comments. Remember, he is NOT a lover of India, but his fearless call of a spade is a spade needed here.

Further the election results for nomination are out today for 5 states  and Donald Trump is way ahead of his rivals. This shows he has big support among Americans and his rhetoric about Muslims is accepted.  This is the Lesson to draw. One should not forget that his latest statement is that he will like Indians to continue to study in US universities as he wants intelligent people to come to USA.
