Secularism means respecting all religions. But in India the case is different. Here secularism means anti - Hindu. Any politician or any writer or any person who claims himself as a secular person always use anti Hindu words. And if we talk about the discussion, then also minorities in India feel themselves safest in comparison to other countries. Government has many plans and policies for minorities in India so that they feel comfortable to live in India.

It is Hindu bashing rather than anti Hindu which they cannot afford to be because, many of them are Hindus. Many think it is sophisticated to put down Hindus and their customs and beliefs and look the other way when such issues come up from minority religions...That is India's idea of secularism which people have gotten used to in the past years ..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

One person use RTI to know that what is meaning of Hindu. But our constitution have not any definition of Hindu. For common sense here Hindu means who worship, Ram Krishna, Hanuman ji, Ganesh ji and all others Gods and godess. In India all persons who worship these Gods and godesses are zealot. They are not secular. Followers of all other religions are secular here.

Hinduism being the oldest religion has become very complicated with time and it is very difficult to define it in one sentence and the fact that both Islam and Christianity has many more followers makes other come u with such statements . The others may feel or think what they like, that is immaterial since some Hindus too might have similar views about other peoples religious beliefs ..

I'm glad dear Anil  that you have such  broad views on religion. I too believe in " Live and let live."Now please allow me to say about my own experience. My wife is very religious minded. I'm not. We lived under the same roof for 49 long years. She follows her own way and I follow mine. Our children are highly educated and well settled. I never tried to force my own beliefs in her. She too cooperated is cooperating with me. No ridiculing. No heckling . Our secularism also says freedom to practice any religion. Fanatics are there in every in every religion. These fanatics are making their livelihood through religion. But i was never drawn to them.Nor I'm going to in future.

In my own state religious tolerance is very much there. When a Muslim meets me he wishes me " Namaskar" And I reply, " Adab Janab. "

Anti secularism was propagated as a vote catching tool in the past few years. The success of a non Congress party is being seen by committed non secularists as a victory for their narrow vision and they therefore want to widen its hold in the society. Confused Hindus are rightly wondering what is happening. A Hindu is one who is born to Hindu parents is the simple definition of a Hindu. It is a very democratic religion which celebrates diversity and accepts differences and advocates tolerance. Therefore when anti secularists come with their narrow agenda many Hindus rightly get confused.

If some more person behave like you than I am assured that India have not any problem of religion. I am also thinking like you. If you can't regards others religions that never disregard their religion. basic principal of all religions are alike. Hindu's Laddu is sweet, muslim's sewaina is sweet, sikh's halwa is sweet, Christian's is sweet, where is difference.

Yes Hinduism or it better to say it Santam Dharm is oldest one. Average Hindu is not fanatic. Hindu is adjustable and believe is compromise. In India person of any religion became of Prime Minister and President, is it possible in other countries who are follower of religion other than Hindu.

It is not the possibility of appointment to political posts like President and P.M. that matters.  We have many women politicians- ministers, C.M. etc. We had most powerful woman P.M. Yet crimes agianst women are increasing. The declaration of secularism does not mean that the feelings of majority community is not respected. We need learn from Nepal, that is now declared secular country but cow is also declared National animal according to feelings of people there. We are secular but we have also banned cow slaughter in most states. Owingto diversity of culture, it is not possible to do so all over India.

Minority bashing peaks during election time. With different state going to election different times it is now elections every year to a few elections. So minority bashing continues for longer periods.

Politicians in India had made use of both minorities and majorities in their own way. They have tried many times to create gap between minorities and majorities so that they can get most benefit out of them and use them as their vote bank. The politicians promise the backward and illiterate people that they will work for them and improve their condition if they come into power. But no politician will work according to their promise.
