Symbols are necessary for illiterate voters. These also identify political parties. We may have only symbols without candidate's name if political parties alone are allowed to contest.Abs, I have never thought abt. this aspect, symbols are necessary no doubt abt. it.

That's what I thought when I read this specific post. most voters who come from villages cannot read or write properly that makes it necessary to print party symbols. besides when there are so many parties in the battlefield, who remembers the name anyway? And then if some one saw an ABC-1 or ABC-2 in case of same name from different parties or fighting as an independent, it will make things more complicated.

Many a times, the candidate standing up for the election, get changed at the last moment. Writing only name instead of party name and its icon, won't be reasonable.

The election Commission has directed all to wear gloves in order to hide election symboil of Congress. This is for ensuring free and fair poll. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
