Supreme Court today made it mandatory to play the national anthem and display the national flag before the movie in theatres. So does this make us more Indian? Does is not any better cases to take care?

. The National Anthem pictured in the movie,Kabhi Khush abhi Gum, is a part of the Movie. While the National Anthem is being played, one need not stand.
But, when the National Anthem is played on different occasions , Public should stand and respect the Nation. If one fails to do this much,,it's a gross injustice.
Arunima Singh wrote:I strongly support the decision of SC to not commercialize the anthem. I remember how it was used in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam for creating an emotional melodrama. And to my shock, nobody stood up in the theater when it was shown, the anthem sang by a British Indian child with all effort to justify his Indianness and to impress his mom. I remember people enjoying the Brit diction and no body stood to show respect
Since I have not seen the film fully I am unaware of this . However I feel that national anthem dhd be used in the right context only and not for commercial purposes
In the year 2002, Nationalist Congress party's Narendra Varma lobbied with the State Government to make playing National anthem in cinema halls of Maharashtra compulsory and it came in to effect on January 26 2003.. He is of the opinion that National Anthem will unite people together people when played in Cinema halls since millions of people watch movies every day. But, my doubt is if National Anthem is played before television begins at home would people stand up ? I doubt.

The very fact that the apex court has come up with such a judgement shows that there is need to make people become aware of Nationalism which had been overtaken by communalism , thanks to our rulers. We see people defending terrorists, questioning and condemning the actions of the army baselessly, which shows a lack of patriotism. The Supreme court judge is not a fool to come up with such a judgement without any reason..

Singing National anthem signifies that we are the subjects of the Nation India that is Bharat We are proud of being Indians. Certainly singing National anthem is a good attempt..

Court must had some reason behind it.
Latest news is Supreme Court modified its order on the National Anthem and exempted people with physical disabilities from standing before screening of a movie in Cinema halls across the Nation
For me too it's a questionable verdict. Forcing patriotism through national anthem in the cinema halls is a strict disciplinarian act which is basically uncalled for. Movie watching is a lighthearted moment and making national anthem a compulsory factor is like forcing people to say prayer before going to bed. Loving motherland has nothing to do with national anthem because standing in attention for a minute will not make the anti nationalists a true nationalist.

While I tend to agree with your views , it also shows the lows to which our society has fallen with a deficit in patriotism that the apex court is probably trying the highlight and correct.. thinking individuals don't need to be reminded but probably there are others who need such measures..

Who is talking about following or not following the Apex court judgement? Every sensible person knows that the order of the court has to be followed so there is no point in discussing about it. The discussion is only about the point that why such a verdict has been passed and not about following.

Yes, the case is similar to the conditioning of school students. Due to some rowdy students in a class, teachers usually punish the whole class. The obedient lot grumbles so are we who are truly patriots but are forced to exhibit our patriotism in the theaters because of some non-patriots.

Then, the answer for your question is, the Court wanted movie viewers in Cinema halls respect the National anthem, before the starting of a Movie by standing up because as an Indian it is the the minimum that one can do.
