    Oh that's really an incredible picture. People look so small in front of that statue. Great statue of a great saint!

    Srilanka too has some really beautiful Buddha statues, here is one of sleeping Buddha at Polonnaruwa at Srilanka, which is quite a gigantic statue and is supposed to fill you with peace after sit by the side and keep your mind free of all tensions and stress.

    That's right Abhijitji :) , however it is a pity that a place like srilanka which has a majority population of peace loving Buddhists had to undergo so much of ethnic violence in the past...

    True! And we cannot also forget what the Talibanis did to the magnificent giant Buddha statues in Bamiyan, Afghanistan! Ancient treasures of those statues are now lost forever because of fanaticism of a particular group of people!

    Ushiku Daibutsu statue is located in the city of Ushiku in Japan. It's height is 394 feet. It is a bronze plated statue.

    Of course Kalyani, what a wicked thing to do , all in the name of religion.If you have respect and love for your religion you should have the same feelings for other peoples religion as well...People are blind and get easily manipulated with religion - opium of the masses indeed!

    I fail to understand how these people find pleasure in destruction. And that too of such ancient valuable statues, no way...
