rambabu wrote:Cruelty to animals in general is one thing that should be banned. In this regard, the efforts of courts should be appreciated to some extent. In Tamil Nadu JalliKattu has been banned. Whereas, in AP, Cock fights, Sheep fights went on unabated, despite ban involving Crores of Rupees. The same is true in Gambling. Organizers are earning astronomical sums. While many families are destroyed.
Any activities is which money is involved all other things are minor. Lobby which is behind all these are much powerful.
Banning of Jallikattu brings in many more questions about other such sports in other states which still go on and no wonder Jayalalitha is making noise about it being banned in her state . The center should ban all such activities where animals are used for sport or sacrificed for religious reasons etc..
Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!
Killing or harming animals by any religion community should be banned in India weather it is Jalikattu or Bakrid. No animal should be killed to celebrate any religious event.

More than anything else, Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu, Cock fights in AP or Bulbul fights in Assam are vices and gambling involving crores of Rupees. Addiction to such vices is more harmful than drug addiction. Addicts go for Heavy loans. Even sell the jewellery to take part in such gambling. In AP, though there was a ban on Cock fights and playing cards during Sankranti, , Cock fights went on. Even many Legislators took part in Cock fights. The Government did not do anything to stop this Societal evil.
The events which involve money are organised with the involvement of local administration of that state or area. Though the government has banned such type of events, but those who are addict of such things and those who makes lots of money out of the game will use their political approach and able to organize such type of events.

It is obvious. Political support plays a key role in the survival of these gambling and betting. in my own state and in my locality cock fights were held openly. organizers took the region where cock fights are held for lease. I heard,In another place, an international championship for gambling was also held. Police did not dare to enter the spots.
The religious and social ceremonies are often cruel and irrational. But these go on in name of tradition or customs. There is need for public awareness against such practices.

The apex court banned the traditional Jallikattu festival of Tamil Nadu because during the events of Jallikattu festoval, the bulls are physically and mentally tortured for the pleasure and enjoyment of human being. In order to perform well at this event, the bulls are deliberately agitated and beaten up to make them aggressive.
The people who are involved in cruelty against animals should be punished hardly. As people are not feared of police, this kind of events goes openly even if it is banned by the court or government.

People are roaming scotfree, as these bettings are sponsored by politicians.
