Peaceful sleepy night is of course necessary for everybody especially for the sick people. Too much sleep can on the other hand increase the body weight. It can also led to health problem. Normal sleep for 8 to 9 hours is ok and not beyond that.
Sleeping for 6-8 hours of sound sleep is necessary for a man to be fit and active. Less sleeping hours will create in activeness and leads to many stress related problems.

Well, yes if we get enough sleep what is necessary for us it will surely help us health wise.. And yes excess sleep is not advisable either.
