Why horses don't sit?

Actually Horse mostly stands as it is runner. But even sit also. I have seen number of times

Come on Sanjeev Sir ! I think all would had seen a Horse sitting and eating grass.

I consulted a famous vet-doctor, the CMO of a racecourse and asked him about this- He replied to my query I am placing it in his words-

Any way, they can't sit like Dogs because of Anatomical variation in the hind Skeleton, they can very well sit like Cow , which they always do, contrary to the common belief ,they lie down and have a sound sleep ! Some times they snore like hman beings also! Horses don'thave any defense organs, so they have to run away from the enemy to save themselves without wasting any time in case of emergency, so in wild they always take rest while standing as they have a mofified skeleton system which can bear the weight of the body when the horse is relaxing all the muscles which is not seen in other animals! So in emergency they use this feature to escape from the enemy with out wasting much of time which otherwise they would have wasted while getting up from the sitting position ! Hope I am clear !
