it is very well known try out by the people whose HDD crashed...you can easily google it .You will find almost same answer.

better try to boot from win 98 bootable cdrom and try to get the partition table fixed using fdisk tool. Then install the OS. If the MBR is damaged then u should connect the HD to another computer and repair it using some recovery software like Norton Disk Doctor etc. This may correct the disk. If Physical damage is happened to the disk due to electrical problems then u should sue Dell/EB/manufacturer of the Battery.

I also can't answer it. Its better to follow bhanu suggestion.
In most cases, if hard disk is crashed, then it needs to replace with new one. Data can't be recovered from the crashed one. It is lost.

@bhanu.... will definitely try this out! freezing the hard disk in air tight and water proof cover.

I think lohit suggession is right you need to replace/repair thorugh dell for hard disk if its is in warrenty/gurantee period
