The number of such accidents are rise in Indian Railways and the portfolio is being currently held by the Prime Minister. He must take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of rail passengers!
I think that Govt should not always be blamed for these accidents although safety is their responsibility. It can happen with one person that is the driver or the line man/signal man being absent minded at some point of time.
The same happens in case of Road accidents where no one blames the system for it.
Mukesh- Government is definitely to blame for such incidents. Safety is of paramount importance. You will find the slogan- Safety first, speed afterwards- on roads. This is true for railway also. There is greater need for more safety gadgets in all railway trains, engines, railway crossings. The system of unguarded or unmanned railway crossings must go. signalling system needs be updated. Everything else- speed, food, comfort- comes next to safety.
What is observed from the past is that the government or the railway authorities routinely form committees to look into the causes which go on to make recommendations and I doubt if these recommendations are at all implemented with all seriousness!
