Previously even innocent candidates were taken into custody in the name of interrogation and beaten black and blue..so even lost their lifes..I dont think police are using Gandhigiri to interrogate in any state. Maybe GOA polices are something unique.. :)

We are discussing whether police can beat an individual arrested during investigation. The baton and bullets are for maintaining law and order. This is not against individuals but against mob. The police use batons only on orders of magistrate and not otherwise. Firing is also resorted on magisterial order to disperse unruly crowd for maintenance of law and order and defending life and property.
Beating or using third degree against individual offenders or arrested persons is not permissible under law.
