The power of concentration is within every living creature. Among animals we see the tiger gathering its strength by a moment of stillness before its springs upon its prey. Likewise man achieves his goal by absolute concentration. When light is dispersed we cannot see well. But when the scattered rays are brought together with the help of a shade or a reflector, then everything becomes distinct. In the same way when our scattered mental forces are gathered up and focused.
Once, in ancient India there was a tournament held to test marksmanship in archery. A wooden bird was set upon a tree and the eye of the bird was the target. One by one, many valiant princes came and tried their skill but in vain. Before each one shot his arrow, the teacher asked him what he saw. Invariably all replied that they saw a bird on the tree at a great height with head, eyes, etc. The teacher was not satisfied. At last Arjuna, the great hero, as he took his aim said, "I see only the eye of the bird" and he it was, who succeeded in hitting the mark.
Concentration helps us to grasp lessons firmly. If our attention is diverted we shall not be able to learn anything. So we should try to develop the power of concentration by which we can master any subject. Prayer helps to develop the power of concentration. Prayer is the remembrance of God, the almighty power behind all creation. It is remembering our relationship with God. By prayer our mind becomes calm and peaceful, because God is the source of all peace and joy. We must pray to God to help us to keep our mind clean and pure. We must understand that ultimately there is only one God. He takes different forms in order to please the devotees. Through prayer, we can try to see God present in everything. It is his power that makes the sun shine and trees and plants grow. Everything we see around us is only an outward expression of his Divine Power. God's power also works through us, controlling all that we think, feel, speak and act. We can pray in whichever way that pleases us best. Even if we pray in a low voice, God will hear us. He hears the movement of even the tiny ants. We must pray for the good of our country, for our friends and relatives, for our parents and ultimately for the good of entire humanity.
Good manners are a sign of gentle-manliness. Good manners can be learn from books, by practice and by observing others. In our home, One should cultivate the habit of keeping things in their proper places.
We should be able to pick them even in the dark. It saves a lot of time. Otherwise much time is wasted in searching for things. While attending a function or a meeting, punctuality must be kept up. At a function or a meeting, peace and decorum should be maintained always. Whistling, tapping are dislike by others. It is indecorous to sneeze or to yawn in a public places such as library, meeting hall. When one has to sneeze or yawn one may do so covering the face with a handkerchief without disturbing others. Whenever our friends are ill and have been admitted to a hospital we should visit them taking some fruits. We should not crowd round them and stay for a long time disturbing the atmosphere. One should not talk impertinently with elders, however intimate one might be with them.
They should be treated with utmost respect without taking liberties with them. One should not talk about others behind their backs pointing to their faults. Do not carry rumor tales about others or listen to such tales. How can one develop character? It is ideas that make a men. Hence, strive first to acquire a good knowledge of the time-honored and noble ideas from the live, doings and teachings of our great men. This produces both confidence and inspiration. Smoking, Alcohol drinking, using drugs are changing one's good behavior. These should be scrupulously avoided. Purity of emotions is the next item to which attention should be given. Prayer, meditation, spiritual activities stimulates good thoughts and good power.
Speech and smile are the special qualities given to men among all living things. Speech is the medium for conveying all messages. Speech is one of the outputs of human's thoughts. We often hear the words "Mind your words". Because words are powerful than any weapon.
Countries avoid the war by meeting and hopeful speeches. Marriages are treated as a 'dharma' in our Indian nation. But many divorces happen by misunterstandings and hateful words. Better Communication and good counseling are the good remedies for quarrels in families.
Silence and patience are the good qualities. But some times silence causes many problems. Good speech which is meaningful, solves many problems. All of us know, Politicians' first and powerful weapon is their speech. Many business agreements and advertisements get the growth and result from good speech.
Lovable speeches are like by all people. That persons who talk sweet, get many friends. Our speech should be honest and clear. Because our speech exhibits our character.
Lack of communication is the main problem in our society. Because society understood our opinion, desire, dislikes by our speech only. One to One communication is the best of all communications. One to Many communication needs more confidence. Many to One needs more confidence and courage.(Need by that one person)
Eye contact when speech is better way of conveying our thoughts. Speech with patience clear all problems.
Smile is the indication of hope, faith, and good thoughts. Eventhough many problems, If we exhibit smile, that relieve our pain and give cheerful vibration to others. Smile makes our environment as energetic field. It makes some magic in work place and family. If one person posses good smile, he becomes a star among crowd.
Another essential one is tears. It is also the special feature given to men among all living things. Crying, weeping are the outlets and remedy for our mental pressure and pain. Tears clear our mind. It wash outs our bad thoughts. Yes! It is a essential gift to us given by god.
