That's right they are giants in Asia just because there is lot of market here in both the countries which was explored long back by US but I think now the way Chinese products are reigning in the world it looks Chinese economy is going to beat any nation of the world so is true with India but we are still growing with the lower rate compared to China. :blink:Chinese products are there everywhere and they seem to dump products in order to increase business, but one myth is also associated with it that these products does not have any value associated with it as well as these products are meant for short term not for long term. The brand Chinese products is very weak and that is what going to hurt it in the long run.
This perception is valid. The voluminous production is at the cost of quality. This applies to their consumer durables as well as industrial goods>
But the Chinese are clever and one step ahead of us. Even though these products are quite bad in quality and break down easily, they have made them available at such low prices that one does not stop to think about throwing the broken piece and buying a new one. So even though may may slam Chinese products, we have no option but to go and buy these only since there are no other substitutes.
and yet they have also done a good job in other fields such as art, print media etc. Most of the countries are now getting their books printed in China, can you believe that? We often need to buy books on art and art history as reference material for my husband and we buy those books from Amazon, Dover and other publications etc. 98% of all these books are printed in China and it is a very huge market! Same books printed elsewhere are not really up to the mark! So while the Chinese are flooding the world with their worthless goods, at the same time they are also assuring that they offer something else that will not be overlooked by others/
That's right for any product its always a cost of quality and durability which is included in the price but when they have kept the price so low so no one expect quality Chinese product and they of course getting benefits as they sell their product iin huge volume. In my opinion if you sell less volume of products of high price is equal to selling products having low price but in huge volume. :)

As such Chinese products would not be successful due to lack of quality standards, if they want to succeed they should bring good quality products with a good and fair price, Indian smart phone manufacturers are giving tough times to already established smart phone manufacturers, people can purchase cheaper products but if they realize that these products are not worth of it slowly they will move to some other market. Most of HP computer hardware is manufactured in China, and this in the long run worst effect on it as most of the times, there has been many bad effects of these and consequently HP products gone bad to worse due to their over dependence on Chinese manufacturers, where as Samsung is slowly replacing because of good quality products. Compromise with quality is a very dangerous game and a very short-sighted policy and China would realize in the days to come that quantity alone won't mean anything. Quality is supreme from the marketing point of view.
To my mind as far as innovations is concerned Chinese products are worth looking at but these suffer on durability count.
Your should be on your side when buying those products, if you are really lucky then you will get a good quality product that will last long, else you will be stuck with stuff that breaks down after very few uses!
@Sanjeev, What you have said is the crux of it, enormous numbers of average products are profitable any time over less numbers of better quality! As it is, now people are more prone to use any item for a short period of time and then replace it with a newer model!

That's the point! Volume helps in absorbing your costs but we should not be too obsessed with that. In the short run this may work but sacrificing quality may prove disastrous in the long run. In China's case what is disturbing is that its particular individual products are just not earning that bad name. The entire country is being viewed as a hub of low-priced cheap goods that may hurt it very badly in the long run!!

Yes in long run quality is what is must for a product to survive in the marketing but may be they have a strategy to penetrate in the foreign market and then work on the quality. :)

But then it is always desirable to put one's best foot forward. Launching products of poor quality and then taking care of the quality aspect to me, is a bit wrong!! Image does make a lot of difference.

These are attractively packaged and about their functionality there is very little to complain about but once again questions are there about durability.

Like I said if you are lucky then you will get a good quality Chinese product or else you are stuck with a poor quality item. But still we cannot ignore the fact that now there are certain things which cannot be found made in India, you get only Chinese products so you have no other option!
Anyway, here's an interesting link I found regarding market in China!
