Writers returning their awards - what do they hope to achieve?

A few more writers have now begun to question the intention of writers returning their award ..S L Byrappa who feels that there is a political agenda and writers should be able to distinguish between what is political and what their responsibilities are as eminent writers

I agree with Bhyrappa, this gesture of writers is nothing but publicity stunt or else there timing is seriously off! They could have done better at the correct timing. And talking of suppression of freedom, who better to talk about it that Taslima. Indian writers do not have to go through what she suffered, not even a tiny bit, so what suppression these people are crying hoarse about?

Munawwar Rana a poet who mostly attends mushayras in Muslim Countries returned his award along with a cheque of rs 1 lack saying so many things on a TV channel last night in a dramatic way. He said Muslims are target of Hindu Atankwad. He did not say a word about 100 Hindus standing on Pakistani border in an Indian town of Rajsthan seeking asylum in India for the atrocities they have been facing in Pakistan regularly. Neither I heard a word by so called seculars of this country about them so far.  

The so called secularists are the worst kind of communal propagators  because they change their stand as and when needed ..It is precisely because of this that we have a situation where Hindus have begun to rise and revolt , although violence is not a solution for any issue and I would never agree to it.

I am not sure about this incident but if someone knows about this incident please let me know

Yes of course this is a major issue here, Prashant was not a model citizen , getting involved in petty scuffles and mob troubles and was working for some Hindu outfits as well...he was killed in broad day light and the entire city of Moodbidri which is about 30 kms from Mangalore closed down for 2 days because of the way it was handle by the police..Now a few people have been arrested after a lot of pressure !

Pashant is a Bajran dal activist. and a habitual law offender. Police commissioner said that others who were arrested were Md. Hanif, Md. Iliyas, Ibrahim Iliyas and Abdul Rashid.. All of them were involved in the execution of the  crime. Police refused to say more as it was the part of the investigation.

And this victim was not a Bajarang Dal Member but a police officer

Matru, the accused was a cattle smuggler.Matru along with his gang shot the the police officer while he was caught red handed by the police officer. Matru admitted his crime for the murder of a police officer on duty.. His full gang is still at large.

Matru is wanted by the police department for his criminal activities. In this process lot of blame games, accusations  and counter accusations started it was observed that several past and several serving MLAs are involved.

And no writer returned or any secular mentioned this case and many such that take place in my city every day

The reasons behind returning their Awards by the writers had shown the cause Dadri lyncing case

 The incident that happened in a Meerut village is certainly a Hindu Muslim hatred. Now what these politicians have got to say after this communal riot wherein, Muslim s killed Hindus in Meerut village ?

It has always been the case and this is precisely why Hindus are revolting now...The root cause is the political class which has led the country to this situation and now they blame saffron party and RSS just to justify their communal feelings...In Mangalore we had the worst ever communal riots at a place called Suratkal. There was a minor incident and it was amicably settled by the Police and the religious leaders from both sides when one of the very prominent leaders who is in power here , interfered and openly incited the minority and the police and the violence that spread after that took many lives from all religious communities and lasted for more than a month when we had curfew ..

The writers who have returned their awards have primarily done so because the Sahitya Academy has not taken up the issue of the death of few writers at the hands of  hardline groups opposed to their ideas.  It is very surprising why the  govt and BJP and RSS are reacting so strongly to this act of the writers. Barring one or two rest all have said they are not returning it because of Modi or his govt. actions. Yet the BJP spokesmen and few Ministers have jumped in as if they are under attack. Some forum members have also got tied up in liking unrelated but sad events the past with the present and are venting their feelings. It is an issue between the Academy and the writers. The only relevant issues raised are regarding Satanic verses and Taslima when writers remained mute. I have a strong feeling that because the first returnee was Nayantara Sehgal from the Nehru clan and then the rest followed. Anything with Nehru touch is simply unpalatable to the  present ruling set up and thus they jumped in. But so have so many others for no rhyme or reason. Let the writers settle it with their Academy. 

Initially it was termed as a protest against the central government over the Dadri incident now if they say they are doing it for other reasons they are either not sure why they are returning the ward in the first place or not sure who to blame for what has happened.Any sane person can see that they are state issues ! This very fact that they have no firm stand shows that they have been manipulated and S. L Byrappa who is a very eminent writer was right in his assessment that it was a publicity stunt.

Dadri lynching incident was high lighted and blown beyond proportions and the protesters wanted to return their writings. No writer said their protest was  against Sahitya Academy. Now after seeing the Meerut riots why no writer has protested and did not return their writings. This the double talk of those Khadi clad politicians with a political motive. I support Byrappa who said that it is a Publicity stunt

Now killings will also have proportion attached to them. The protests had an impact, PM was forced to take notice and ask Amit Shah to take to task the fringe elementswho were also discounting Dadri. If Dadri was a minor incidentally why then PM is angry and disillusioned as is reported in the papers.

Agreed Dadri is not a minor incident. This has been admitted by the BJP.senor leaders because it is more concerned about the development of the country than indulging on  issues like Dadri. The BJP  feels strongly it is untimely when the country needs more development. Returning of the writings of the writers is nothing but a political stunt as expressed by Kannada writer Byrappa.

When you arm twist the PM and resort to media circus what else can be expected ? Modi could have remained Maun like the previous PM but he wants to sort things out so he has taken timely action so that these people don't make it their agenda to keep blowing things out of proportion of one issue whereas hundreds of other issues like rape is happening elsewhere , just to embarrass the government . It is good that Modi has taken the initiative and done what needs to be done, that does not mean that they are guilty , but the concerned states look even more blameworthy now,,

It seems the people have only one agenda and that is embarrass the government especially Modi. It is aloaded statement @ Usha makes when she says that "It is good that Modi has taken the initiative and done what needs to be done, that does not mean that they are guilty." That means it was a drama .  The cat is out of the bag!!
