What is there in a name. There is nothing offending in the movie Ram Leela except the name. The title 'Ram Leela' will bring to your mind Ram Leela played in every nook and corner during Dussehra. But the movie is some different Leela. Then why call this Ram Leela? Then would 'Raas Leela' be appropriate? This would also be linked to Raas Leela by Krishna. Could the film makers not select some name unconnected with any religious hero? 'Love game' or ''Aao pyaar karen' could be alternative titles.

Now they have lenghtened the name but still retained 'Ram Leela' within the title. How funny.

Muslim countries are very strict regarding their God. They kill offenders publicly who insult God. They have respect and discipline more than any other culture in the world.
Ram may be the name of the hero and Leela is of course the name of the heroine. They could have used any other names which are not sacred. The story of the movie is nothing but the insult to the title of the film.
They would have considered that 'Ram Leela' would attract more than some other title- say- Jeetu honey.
Perhaps he should have gone for Sanjay- Leela in place of Ram Leela. He could have named the main lead 'sanjay'
They wanted to attract more crowds by misleading people. The title 'Sanjay leela' would not help them.[/quote
Yes this can only draw people's attention. I think the name of the movies should have been - "Chandra Kanta".
Chandra kanta- is a novel by Devki Nandan Khatri. This title would be more controversial.

In that case they should have named the movie in dada Kondke style, that would have helped them more.

Yes you are very true.
Then let the name be - "Keshab Kanta". It is very practical.
I don't agree with the baseless hue and cry on Ram Leela.
My question is, " Ram means only Ramchandra of Ramayan?" There are several Rams in Indian mythologies. I'd like to specifically point out that the word "Leela" carries several meanings. Not necessarily the Leela of Krishna and Radha in Brindavan which is an amorous play. How one can explain the meaning,"Yeh Sab Bhagwan Ki Leela"?

I don't like both the hero and heroine of the movie. Now as because the rating is so bad, I won't see this movie.
I don't give importance to ratings. Most of the ratings are manipulated.
This is Ok. Deepika is good actress but Ranveer Singh is worthless.
Sanjay leela Bhansali has few good movies to his credit. He can't be ignored.

I agree ! He has made some good movies in the past like Khamoshi...the others like hum dil de chuke sanam were also good although I cannot recollect the other names just now...I like Deepika though since she is good looking and a good actress ! But what is the point in watching a film that is all hype and no substance !

True. For that to see about its substance, one has to see for himself, without being carried away by ratings and other's opinions. Likings and dislikings vary from person to person.

Ram and Lila in name of main chracter of this film. I think Lila Ram is more suitable name for it.

Yes according to Indian culture name of women comes first like Sita-Ram So yes Leela Ram was a better option. :)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’ original name is only Sanjay Bhansali. He has added “Leela” in order to pay a tribute to his mother “Leela Bhansali”. Here his intention is to specify Leela as an activity. Nothing more. Ram Leela Maidan means, a place to stage the activities of annual Ram Leela. And we say, often Bhagwan Ki Leela. Means God’s activities.
Now tell me what’s wrong with “Ram Leela”. The word "Leela " has several meanings.
There is nothing wrong with the title of the Movie “Ram Leela”

There is nothing wrong except that the title is misnomer and confusing. 'Ram Leela' is commonly understood as enactment of Ramayana on stage or screen.

True. In show business often we find creating confusion intentionally to be in the limelight. This is one way of drawing the public attention.
