It is true that Narendra Modi has, indeed, caught on the imagination of the people of India and his political opponents, with all their false appearances of being confident in exploiting his very controversial role in Gujarat riots, are behaving like headless chickens! Who is less communal in Indian politics, you tell me? Wasn't Rajiv Gandhi, who attempted to exploit communal sentiments in Shabano case, in Ram Mandir case?? What are the prime motives of Mulayam's or even Mamata Banerjee's brand of politics? It is the height of hypocrisy and all that to single out Narendra Modi for communal politics when the celebrated secularists got away with it committing far more heinous crimes in the name of secularism.

Mamata Banerjee is considered a fire brand leader. I feel that there is no communal politics in west Bengal. Neither the Left nor Trinmool nor Congress play communal politics there. I hope you will please elucidate why you club Mamata Banerjee with Mulayam singh. This is only out of curiosity.

Yes there is no communal politics but it is communist politics in W.B. I fail to understand how Marx is still so loved in that state or why do they oppose development on mass basis. Marxism is a sociological theory, a philosophical method, and a revolutionary view of social change. Where is all that in West Bengal?

Nobody can form Communist or Marxist set up in a state. You need to run a state according to constitution. Budh Dev Bhattacharya himself observed that he was building capitalism and not communism in state. Mamata Banerjee obstructed his attempts to industrialize the state and consequently Tata Nano had to be moved to Gujarat. It is aptly said and Budha Dev Bhattacharya also reiterated that 'Marxism Leninism is not a dogma but a guide to action."

I guess, West Bengal is a right example of secularism. The state has never been in the news for such thngs, at least. It could be the culture of the state that such things do not exist there. I believe, other states in India can take a leaf out of WB's book.

Do you mean that WB is free from communal violence? It may be less in number. But its not free from Communal flare ups. One I can quote is Violent riots erupted in Deganga area in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on the construction of a Puja pendal in 2010. Unfortunately I was stuck up there for some time.

They have had their fair share of riots in 1946, 1964 and 2007 ...

I am happy to be trying to meet your curiosity. I consciously bracketed her with Mulayam mainly because I find her attempts to woo Muslims in the state have ominous similarities with that of Mulayam. Her guilty conscience involving her association with BJP in the past , might be the possible reason. She stunned me by her infantile decision to grant a monthly allowance to Imams of the state which mercifully has been set aside by Calcutta High Court. Hope I sound convincing!!

I think the state has managed to keep its record of communal harmony relatively clean because it saw the diabolical face of communalism but I have doubts how long the state would remain so as it shares a very long border with Bangladesh which ranks very high in the list of Jihadi Muslim fundamentalism.

BJP PM candidate Mr. Narendra Modi is going to attend the Ilanthaamarai (Budding lotus) Conference which is exclusively for youths, This conference is going to be held at Trichy, Tamilnadu. BJP is trying hard to make this conference a grand success and a remarkable event.

But these can not be ignored in democratic countries like India it seems. All the parties spaend huge amount of money to just gather masses. It is not a good sign for politics and country as well. Atleast PM candidates fo the various parties should realize this fact

Absolutely, I agree with yours point, and also in addition I think all national parties should declare their PM candidate, so that voters can choose from among them, and when that party comes to power and the person who is declared PM candidate takes oath, the voter then can feel that he has given the vote to this person.

What you suggest is not according to our political system as enshrined in constitution. There is no direct election of Prime minister. Only elected MPs elect Prime minister. That depends on composition of parliament after election. Also consider practical aspects. If smaller parties like CPI(M), Trinmool Congress, Biju Janata Dal, Rashtriya janata dal declare their P.M. candidate, this will be too bizarre and funny. If no party gets a majority- which usually happens- the Prime minister candidate will emerge only after parliamentary election and the exercise of declaring P.M. candidate beforfehand will be an exercise in futility. As people do not vote directly for P.M., there is absolutely no significance of so called Prime ministerial candidate before new Lok Sabha is formed.
