A 50-year-old Dalit woman who had complained of being denied entry into a temple in Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh's village, Jait, about three months ago, has now alleged that she was raped by two men for speaking against the upper castes.

Such gruesome incidents keep happening all the time and will also happen in future unless the miscreants are not punished to deter others from doing similar acts!

We talk about how we could have prevented an attack if only we had done such and such. We look over our shoulder, don't walk down a dark alley at night, hide our bruises behind closed doors, feel too ashamed to admit having been raped, and take the abuse of others who put blame on us for dressing too provocatively, wearing too much makeup, "inviting" trouble.

Why don't we as a society start putting the blame and responsibility where it belongs and start breaking the cycle of abuse and violence? Abusers and rapists are responsible for their acts of violence. The victims are NEVER to blame. They are NEVER responsible for the violence rained down on them.

When will men start taking some responsibility, making it known to other men and to their own sons that it is never okay to rape anyone? It is never okay to rape a woman who has been drinking, or using drugs, whether drunk or not, conscious or not. It is never okay to rape a woman who is out walking alone at night in a deserted area or jogging alone at 5 am. It is never okay to rape a woman because she is wearing a short skirt or because she looks like someone who broke up with you.

It is never okay to assault a woman asleep in her bed or in your bed. It is never okay to assault a woman alone in the laundry room washing her clothes. It is never okay to assault a woman who has repeatedly refused your advances. It is never okay to violate a woman, whether it is your wife of girlfriend, if she is not in the mood for sex. It is never okay to violate a child or a step-daughter or a baby sitter or any woman who says "no".

Rape is never okay. Men who brag about raping someone to their male friends should be turned in to the police. They should not be considered friends. Their friendship should not be more important than the fact that they ruined someone's life.
Raping is equivalent to committing brutal murder.Just demanding for 33% reservation is not enough.A woman in power must be ready to fight for another fellow woman who is discriminated.

Shilpa wrote an excellent piece against the menace of rape. The most shameful aspect is that men consider this as a sign of manhood and a conquest. Women consider this as a shame. Mindset needs change. Rape is heinous. The woman raped need not feel shame. She is a victim and must not suffer from any inferiority sense. The male who rapes should be made to feel shame rather.

Rape or for that matter doing anything to any one without consent or lawful reason is uncalled for and heinous. Rape is unlawful and criminal. But this does not amount to murder. By overemphasizing the guilt of rape, we are harming the women. A raped woman lives in shame with stigma for ever. This position should go. a raped woman should feel as normal as one feels after an injury. But the person raping a woman must be punished and put to shame.

A 50 year old women being raped, great! Keep going caste system of india
This is very heinous. Many consider rape a weapon of revenge. Even in verbal quarrels, people talk of raping each other' s mother or sister. It seems this is part of Indian culture. Verbal raping is routine. some times, actual rape also takes place.
