Article Issue: I would like to say 'I said so'

I've already seen the active thread regarding no articles being published and I've been reading all the opinions.  Looking at my forum stats one may think I am a pretty new member here, on the contrary, I was here on Boddunan since September 2009! I was very excited about Boddunan and my expectations were huge. But over the time I lost interest in writing articles on the site since I felt there was no much justice done to the article session. And I've stated this in forum years ago and got not much notice.

Topics Boddunan

I've opened this new thread since I'd like to point out what I think went wrong and I hope active users of the site would add their insights as well so as to fix this issue. So let's make this thread to introduce new ideas.

First of all, let me list out the things I think Boddunan shouldn't have done.

1. Accepted lots of irrelevant and poor quality articles which no one is interested to read.

Boddunan accepted lots of articles which are not up to any standards. At first, I wrote articles by proofreading it before publishing and making sure at least I did my best. Then I found out many articles which are barely 150 words and have nothing useful in it getting published for Rs.10 and Rs.15. And the articles which are well researched and written gets like Rs.30. So what's the whole point? Write some casual posts and publish daily and get more money than a well-written article. Relevancy is another matter, usually, a good article is like 800-1000 words. No one reads more than that on the web. I've seen 2000 words articles on Boddunan on medical science topics which I think is not much relevant and will not yield much clicks.

2. No benefits for getting more page views.

My article on Creating custom social networking website got 35000+ hits. I think people are interested in those kinds of things. And all I made out of it is Rs.10. On the other hand, another article of mine on Supernatural experiences gained Rs.80 but only got 900 views.

When more page views yield more money writers will share them on social networking websites.

3. Much less importance to articles on the website.

Articles are not published daily, but everything is published altogether on a particular day. Also visibilty of articles must be more on the website. Article section must be the core. But instead it's buried along side with all other sections.

I would really love to see boddunan back to it's glory and making progress in such a way that it'll compete with sites like hupages in future. But we have to go a long way.

I lost interest in writing articles here long before. I have almost 1000 rupees in my account and I thought of publishing a few more articles to withdraw it, then find out articles are not getting published and the last article published was 3 months ago.

Totally in agreement with all the views here.. a few suggestions i have is

1. As usha already mentioned - the admin should set a minimum cutoff for the published articles. Paying rs 2 or 5 is like insulting a writer. If the article is so bad or not worth it , then let the admin decide not to publish it at all

2. Assuming that the admin is busy which is causing the delay in publishing the articles - he should delegate that task to a moderator/s

3. If the admin really wants to keep the site going strong he should re-introduce the contests and rewards.

Another step we or rather the moderators can take up is to check with the admin directly ( assuming they have a way of communication to the admin other than the forum) and check with him regarding the plans he has for the site.

Also with so much of a discussion going on about the site and admin's role... i feel the admin owes us all an explanation. It would be so much more appropriate if he could spare a few minutes to clarify his plan for the site himself.

I think, all the points you mentioned were discussed earlier. There is no point in discussing further.

Since no decision is taken. And we have not had any formal communication, i dont see any harm in further discussion.

Let the thread starter and the other members too have a say in the matter ,,

Frankly I don't think anything will happen and hence I won't be commenting on this thread. Looks a waste of time.

As per my communication with admin maybe he would consider it in future but increasing rates for articles is not possible for time being.

Well that's that then, any idea how far in future ?

Now the facts have come out, Even if the Administration  allows Article writing, It is with less remuneration.  Members may not show all that interest and enthusiasm, Thank heavens, some other features are retained.

I think the articles were published in recent past on this site but if the admin is busy else where you cannot blame him for the present situation. Besides he knows the best about his own site.

As for closed or discontinued websites that is part of the game however there is no dearth of writing sites where you can publish your posts and earn regularly.

That is a different issue altogether. You know many of the old members of this site who have emotional links  with this site are really disturbed. I hope the wishes of senior members along with me will be fulfilled sooner than later.

Yes when we associate with site for long we feel some emotional attachment with site and members. My lot is one of them. Although this site is still working it is not attractive life earlier. Earlier it have many members from India.

Sure, you can go on with the inane posts and press as many likes as you want and there is absolutely no curb on that ...

Another example of you being irresponsible! Did you even try to find out the truth about this statement???

I don't want to start a new forum or question. I already had one question for the same. I even sent a mail to seek answer. I understand that points are not cash credits. But do points get redeemed in cash and if so what is the policy?? Any old member who can clarify?? I have understood the point earning system but how and when the points get redeemed??

I am sorry to take discussion in different way, but since I couldn't get an answer of my question, I thought to have it here as many are talking about different things on the site other than article

The points are used for earnings only in the leaderboard now. The one with the highest point for any particular week earns Rs. 50, the next four highest point earners earn Rs. 25 each and the next 5 earners earn Rs. 10. Earlier, there used to be revenue sharing system where 2000 points earned you 1 share from the total revenues of the site, the more the points you earned, the more shares you got. But that has been stopped now. I hope this answers your questions.

It i9s a pleasure to read post by Roshan Ahmad. I remember his contributions some years ago. We have others like Abid, who have forgotten the site even though they were very active a few years ago. Sandhya is also one such member though she appears some times. Now Chimoy Mukherjee also does not appear. May be absence of such members has lowered the standard.

I hope admin works towards recovery of the old standards. Hope to see these good old members back in action

When I joined this site no doubt there were many more active members and there was lot more activity, many more article published but frankly i cannot vouch for any high standards either of articles or on the forum. It was later after the admin brought in many reforms that we saw positive changes and in fact 2013 - 2015 was the best period with many article writing competitions etc ..but once the admin became lax for whatever reason I see the site reverting back to what it was when I joined it with lot less activity ..

Thank You Gulshanji. I enjoyed reading your posts and articles back then. All of them were well structured, written, to the point and very rational. I think you've also become less active on the site because then you used to be on the leaderboard every week.
