Panini formulated the Sanskrit grammer in 300 BC. He was from Ghandhara , today's Afghanistan (some say it is today known as Kandhar) and gave astonishing 3,959 rules of syntax and semantics which became the foundation of Sanskrit grammar. The concept of zero emerged from the concept of 'Shunya' meaning nothing. It was Brahamgupta in around 650 AD who gave arithmetic operations using zero. It reached Bhagdad in 773 AD thru Arab traders and then to Europe in 12th century AD. How advanced where we but political disunity was our weakness which foreigners exploited.

Vedic Mathematics which can solve any complex mathematical calculation in a Jiffy was the boon of Bharat to the world. Aryabhatta's calculations of Planetary movements are as accurate as today's Astronomical calculations. When half the world was yet to born Susruta performed Plastic surgery in his ashram in Varanasi.
Sakuntala Devi who was hailed as the human computer used Vedic mathematics to beat a computer.. Today Vedic mathematics has been included in most of the schools curriculum.
