The authorities should see that police perform their duty well at any time- day or night. There are other causes also for crimes. It also appears that the volume of crimes is too much and police force too small to tackle. It is also not feasible to increase the police force as this will be very expensive. So, the best thing is that citizens should be more alert and avoid circumstances that facilitate crimes. One way is to use more public transport. Also the existing police force should be used for checking crime against women and oppressed classes and coercive acts. The consensual crimes like homosexuality, adultery and similar social offences not involving coercion need not be bothered about.

Nice information shared.I too think they don't perform their duty nicely not only in night shift even in day shifts too.they always try to get some bribe from anywhere. :(
