Like all other good things our national anthem too was not free from controversies! Some critics even saw a plot in Gurudev's composition as an attempt to praise British RaJ!

The controversy is because the song is said to have been composed for coronation ceremony of King George. But this song is song of India. This praises all parts of India- Kashmir to kanya Kumari. This is our national pride.

There was a controversy on selection of national anthem. There were three alternate anthems- Vande matram, Sare Jehan se achha and Jana Gana mana. Vende Matram included reference to Hindu gods and goddesses and so was unacceptable to many. But this was accepted as national song but excluding some stanzas. Iqbal, author of Sara Jahan se achha migrated to Pakistan and so this not selected. Finally, Jana Gana mana was adopted as national anthem and Vande Matram national song.

Jana Gana Mana is the National Anthem of India and yesterday India celebrated on completing its 100 years. Jana Gana Mana was composed by Guru Rabindranath Tagore to make us feel the greatness of our country. This song make us feel glad, proud and patriotic for our motherland, India.
I respect Kavi Guru Rabindranath Tagore for such a great composition. This is most richest and vital gift for us.
